THE SAFE LANDS CAPTIVES
“The Safe Lands Captives”, by Jill Williamson, was sent to me, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review. This novel is a futuristic young adult novel.
Normally, I don’t read or enjoy futuristic fantasy type novels. But, this one is captivating! In it, a plague has wiped out most of the population. It spread through the water and only a few places remained untainted. The town of Glenrock reverted back almost to primitive times – no tvs, phones, or even indoor plumbing. There was another area, however, called “The Safe Lands”, that was completely advanced and futuristic. They had huge tvs projected onto their walls, “chatterboxes” that allowed them to talk to one another and monitored everything. They had computer activated tattoos, skin coloring (like pink and purple and green), makeup, etc. Each person wore a “MARK” on their hand and face that identified them and allowed them to purchase goods and services – even to enter rooms and buildings (What does THAT remind you of!?!) They “liberated” people at fifty years old. But, they had contracted the plague and adopted drastic means to keep their “Safe Lands” alive…You have to read Jill’s novel to find out what they did.
GOOD READ that I would recommend if you want a real nail biter. I can hardly wait for the next installment of “The Safe Lands” series!!
