FREE INDEED

Today as we celebrate the birth of our country and the freedom we enjoy as Americans, I think of the freedoms I enjoy as a Christian - true freedom.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

JOHN 8:36 (ESV)

Our soldiers shed blood to free us from tyranny and oppression. Our Savior shed His blood to free us from corruption. He freed us from the yoke of the evil one-into His salvation. And, even though Satan Hits us with temptations every day, God has, with it, provided an escape.

I've heard so many people who have suffered hurt or pain, blame God saying, "If He is a God of good and love, why would He allow "this (fill in the blank)" to happen?" Well the thing is, He also gives us the freedom to choose. He has even given us the freedom to completely turn our backs and do the opposite of His will. He gives us the freedom to "mess up"… Which a lot of times leads to our suffering and pain. And, He gave that same freedom to Adam and Eve, which brought evil into this world and thus brought about ALL suffering. We don't have to choose evil though… We can choose good!

God, through Jesus shed blood, also freed us from a certain death and condemnation to the Lake of Fire for eternity. Instead of bondage and chains-guilt and shame-we are blessed with the hope of a glorious Heaven.

Today, as I celebrate my freedom from sin and death, I feel compelled to share God's gift to someone who may still be in bondage to the evil one… I'd like to share how you can be "free indeed"

1.      Admit that you're a sinner

NO ONE IS GOOD ENOUGH OR CAN BE GOOD ENOUGH TO WORK YOUR WAY INTO HEAVEN - Romans 3:23

2.      Believe that Christ, through His shed blood on the cross, can save you and give you eternal life - Acts 16:31, John 3:16

3.      Confess Christ as your Savior – I John 1:9
