I just finished reading “Jessie”, which is the second book
in the “Coastal Chronicles Series”. It
was sent to me free of charge in exchange for my honest review.
“Jessie” is a Christian fiction novel written by Rebekah
Lyn. “Jessie” was written about the
space program at Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida. Jessie was the baby of four boys…Max, Sam,
Ricky, and himself. He made it a point
to watch all the launches and learn all that he could about the space program because
his dream was to be an astronaut. In one of the launches his mentor, Gus
Grissom, is killed in an explosion, but he doesn’t let Grissom’s death stop the
mentorship. He begins to dream of having
long conversations with Grissom…even about his love and forgiving his abusive
father and giving him a second chance.
I always love Rebekah Lyn’s books…mostly set in my home
state of Florida. I love being able to
recognize the places and put myself into the stories. I remember getting up early, fixing thermoses
and snacks, and going to the Banana River to watch the launches, and raising my
kids with the same traditions. It was
really fun to read about things I’d actually experienced. This story is also filled with history facts
about the space program…FUN FUN FUN J
I recommend you read, “Jessie”.
